Overview
This website was designed to bring the visuals of the Interlaced Exhibition to a digital format, translating the printed versions to an interactive experience. Although it could have been turned into an app, a website was chosen to explore layout and visual storytelling to create an immersive extension of the Interlaced exhibition.
Research
In contrast to app development, a website allows for more detailed content, so information from scholarly articles, books, and tour guides were incorporated. An early challenge was the limited availability of royalty-free photos of Andean communities, so alternative representation such as landscape and animals were used. Another consideration was translating the printed designs onto the website, so photos from the printed design were included and the badges were slightly modified for digital display. To further emphasize support for Andean community, the site features ways to donate or purchase textiles, with all proceeds going to the Andean artists.
