The start of a new fellowship project to develop
icons for UHM collateral materials
Overview
Various illustrations from sticker sheets and brand icons were designed for UH Branding and Marketing. Sticker sheets came in two sizes for different audiences, and icons were developed for cohesive collateral materials.

Sticker Research
To understand what else can be included in the sticker sheet, research was conducted to better emulate the university. Other university sticker sheets found on TikTok showed how their brand values and campus were depicted. From there, UHM campus landscape and trends drafted ideas such as, the popularity of Hawai’i Palaka patterns, lei stickers, and the favor of vintage items across social media. To further imply the university, flowers and birds helped communicate the tropical atmosphere of campus. Many students have expressed interest in vintage UH Manoa logos, so the rainbow warrior was added to the sticker sheet. Phrases often heard on campus such as “Cheehoo,” “You’re UHM-azing,” and the iconic “Aloha” aided in the overall representation of the university’s atmosphere.

Icon Research
Inspired by the old icon set, a word list and inspiration board was created to lay the direction for the icons. Tasked with designing an award and research based icons: land, sea, sun and space—  various explorations of line weight and style helped develop the five icons.
